Inspiration: Atypical Knitted Stripes on Ravelry

20 Knitting Patterns With Atypical Stripes

Stripes can be a fun, fairly easy way to add some variation of color to a knitting project. These twenty knitting patterns/projects feature stripes, but not plain-jane single-size, horizontal stripes. Stripes in varying widths, colors, or in smaller accent areas.

Not knitting but I spent the morning weeding, clea Not knitting but I spent the morning weeding, clearing out my sad garden bed and fire pit. I forget what the red flowers are called but when we put them in behind the pond, there were only 3 of them 😅 They spread like bamboo. There were four tree frogs in the umbrella when I opened it and I met a little snake 🥰

What have you been up to besides knitting?
Two moon lace ideas... not sure which to go with. Two moon lace ideas... not sure which to go with. Do you like the mesh moon or the outlined moon more? #laceknitting #knitting #knitweardesign #critknits
Next design swatch! Not sure if the lace I dreamt Next design swatch! Not sure if the lace I dreamt up will look nice when I’m done, so, gotta try it out first. I’m enjoying the thick, smocked border also the top! Needed to add a little “extra” to this Mollymauk-inspired design because Molly would not settle for a plain garter border 😅 Anyway, I always forget how to add returns to these posts 🙄 I also wanted to include my keyboard and mouse in this pic to show what I’ve really been focused on lately. Back in February, my contract with Disney ended. In March, I applied for the position they made to replace the contract, a permanent, part time gig! Then COVID... since then, I’d been holding out hope that the position would open again and I could rejoin the team and live happily ever after! 😑 Now it’s been 7 months and I have to get serious about updating my portfolio and learning new skills for web development so that I can find a job elsewhere. So, I’m learning about UX, brushing up on the latest UI design trends, deepening my JavaScript knowledge, and learning how to use React! I also have an idea for an app I’d like to attempt to build for knitwear designers (and possibly knitters). Anyway, this is turning into a journal entry. I hope you are all well! I’m going to try and post more often but... don’t hold your breath. 😅
The Blooming Grove Tea Time Cosy knitting pattern The Blooming Grove Tea Time Cosy knitting pattern is now available! This tea cosy design is inspired by Caduceus Clay of the Mighty Nein, with his love of nature, the Wildmother, and tea. The pattern itself includes instructions for creating the base (using @criticalsheep's D10 Worsted weight yarn) and leaves, mushrooms, and bugs with fingering weight leftover yarns.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This pattern has been tested (See my previous post for all of the tests created! They look better than mine! 😅) and it has been tech edited by @snooptiggercrafts, so you can be pretty sure there won't be any frustrating mistakes found.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Along with this Cad-inspired pattern, @yarningforwhimsy is releasing her "Chosen of Uk'otoa" Fjord-inspired sock pattern today as well! Go check them out because they are stunning! 😍⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As with the other Crit Knits patterns we've released, these will be available in our Crit Knits ebook! It is currently $20 but if you buy now, you'll receive our final two patterns for a total of 8 Mighty Nein-inspired patterns!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Are you gonna knit up one of these? What toppings will you put on your tea cosy?
So many cute versions of the Blooming Grove Tea Ti So many cute versions of the Blooming Grove Tea Time Cosy! These are cosies knit up by awesome test knitters (each image is tagged, except for the white based cost, created by EstherV1stra on Ravelry) and each cosy has its own personality and flair!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you all so much for testing this pattern before it heads out into the world! This great group of knitters had such great insight and tips for making this pattern better. 😍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
@yarningforwhimsy and I will be launching our next set of Crit Knit patterns tomorrow. Mine, "Blooming Grove Tea Time Cosy," is inspired by Caduceus Clay of the Mighty Nein and features cables, bobbles, and a bunch of whatever-you-really-want on top! :D Christy's next design is a pair of beautiful cabled socks inspired by Fjord Stone of the Mighty Nein! (They're really awesome, so check out her Instagram.)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We'll be starting another round of the Crit Knits KAL with this latest pattern release, so please join us if you'd like some nerdy knit chat and a chance at some yarn and/or Critical Role-related prizes!
It's almost time! The "Blooming Grove Tea Time Cos It's almost time! The "Blooming Grove Tea Time Cosy" pattern (inspired by Caduceus Clay of the Mighty Nein) will be launching this weekend, along with @yarningforwhimsy's "Chosen of Uk'otoa" sock pattern (which looks like a lot of cabley fun to knit, go check it out)!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The base of this cosy has some easy cables and bobbles, knit up in @criticalsheep's D10 Worsted weight, and the toppings are just a free-for-all stash dive! My test knitters seemed to have a blast knitting it up and finding new things to include in their cosies! (I'll be sharing some of their creations tomorrow, when I get my **** together 🤷🏻‍♀️ lol)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Both my new design and Christy's will be included in the Crit Knits ebook, along with our previously released patterns - Caleb’s Cabled Hat, A Knit for Nott, Beau’s Bracers, and Jester’s Spiritual Weapon. When all released, the ebook will include 8 designs in total - all Critical Role Campaign 2 inspired! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Special thanks to HMSNyra on Ravelry for the pattern name idea!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So that my patterns are accessible to more people, So that my patterns are accessible to more people, I've set up an Etsy shop with my patterns (link available in my profile)! I also plan to work on my website so that it can be a more central location for pattern information (like pattern errata and test knitter project photos). Ravelry's failure to test their new design and then address the issues with it in a timely manner have made me realize that it would be smart to centralize my knitting information in a place that I actually control.
Let me introduce you to... Name Pending! lol This Let me introduce you to... Name Pending! lol This is my next #critknit design, inspired by Caduceus Clay of the Mighty Nein. Cad's tea time is something sacred to him, a time to slow down and reflect. As a follower of the Wildmother, the natural order of things is extremely important to him and nothing should be wasted. I could think of nothing better to represent Caduceus in knitting than a tea cosy covered in mushrooms, leaves, and bugs to keep his tea warm.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The half pink, half green tea cosy base is reminiscent of Caduceus's pink hair and his green armor, using colors that match him so well from @criticalsheep in her D10 Worsted weight (Princess and Lifespring colorways). The texture is made up of vine and berry motifs. The dead leaves, mushrooms, and bugs bring a little piece of his home, The Blooming Grove, to tea time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My hopes is that you’ll knit up the base and get really creative with the topper! I’ll be providing instructions on how to knit up mushrooms, leaves, and bugs, but you could also add found objects (like crystals and skulls) or knit your own pieces of nature into the top to make a unique creation all your own!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If that sounds fun, I'm looking for some nerdy knitters to test this pattern and make sure it's clear and easy to follow! If you're interested, there's a link to the Yarnpond application in my profile. <3⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Since the Ravelry redesign has been problematic, I Since the Ravelry redesign has been problematic, I wanted to reach out to my audience to see if there is anyone who was in or wanted to join our KAL that we’ve been holding in a Ravelry forum that isn’t able to. Please PM me to let me know! @yarningforwhimsy and I have been brainstorming alternative meeting places and are thinking Slack would be an appropriate move...

While we get that figured out, here’s a little sneak peak of part of my next design 🐜 inspired by Caduceus Clay from #CriticalRole. Spoilers, it’s a really cosy! I’m still trying to decide if it’s done or not... It’s a design I’m more excited to see others knit because I think other people will do a better job than me 😅
